Heuristic Assessment of Parameters of the Local Ground Approximation from Terrestrial LIDAR Data
نویسندگان
چکیده
The recently proposed quality measure is used to find the local ground approximation (LGA) from the data measured with the terrestrial laser scanning (TLS). The measure is the number of points in a thin layer located directly above the approximating surface. It can be optimized with the hill climbing algorithm. The method is robust against the data which can be treated as outliers from the ground model, so the TLS data have neither to be filtered nor segmented into those pertaining to the ground and to other objects (trees or lower vegetation). The results are compared with those obtained with the Hough transformbased method and assessed visually, with a positive result. If the ground does not depart too far from the assumed planar shape, the errors are small in relation to those obtained with other measurement modalities.

Occlusion Area as Suitable Guidance for Terrestrial Laser Scanner Localization
Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS) technology, have altered quickly data acquisition for map production in surveying. In many cases, it is impossible to complete surveying of the desired area without TLS displacement in one station to another. Occlusion is innate in data acquisition, with this type of device. To solve this problem, TLS devices should be placed in different locations and scanning o...
متن کاملEvaluation of a Method for Fusing Lidar Data and Multispectral Images for Building Detection
In this paper, we describe the evaluation of a method for building detection by the Dempster-Shafer fusion of LIDAR data and multispectral images. For that purpose, ground truth was digitised for two test sites with quite different characteristics. Using these data sets, the heuristic model for the probability mass assignments of the method is validated, and rules for the tuning of the paramete...
متن کاملPresenting a Morphological Based Approach for Filtering The Point Cloud to Extract the Digital Terrain Model
The Digital terrain model is an important geospatial product used as the basis of many practical projects related to geospatial information. Nowadays, a dense point cloud can be generated using the LiDAR data. Actually, the acquired point cloud of the LiDAR, presents a digital surface model that contains ground and non-ground objects. The purpose of this paper is to present a new approach of ex...

متن کاملComprehensive Analysis of Dense Point Cloud Filtering Algorithm for Eliminating Non-Ground Features
Point cloud and LiDAR Filtering is removing non-ground features from digital surface model (DSM) and reaching the bare earth and DTM extraction. Various methods have been proposed by different researchers to distinguish between ground and non- ground in points cloud and LiDAR data. Most fully automated methods have a common disadvantage, and they are only effective for a particular type of surf...
